CONCERT UPDATE!

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

It’s taking forever to get all the details worked out! But here’s the latest:

We’re still at The Openhouse at 201 Mulberry St. on Sunday December 16th.

The event is from 2-5pm and you will be on stage at 4pm. The rest of the time will be party and show-and-tell like the previous Handmade Music Nights. You don’t have to be there at 2 but I encourage you to come early to show off your instruments to everyone. You MUST be there by 3pm – I will be taking attendance.

Please spread the word!

Concert update

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Our final concert is going to be on Sunday December 16th. It’ll be a joint event with Create Digital Music and Etsy Labs — people will be invited to bring their own handmade music gadgets to show off, but Mister Resistor will be the main event. It looks like the concert will probably be at The Openhouse on Mulberry Street, SOHO.

We’ll use our remaining class time to finish up our instruments, plan the concert, and practice! Don’t forget to update the blog with your progress.

A great event coming up….

This one is the best suited to most of us in Mr Resistor class….

In short:

·         A MIDI pick

·         Mystery controllers from LEMURplex/LEMURbots

·         Theremin-playing robots

·         Generative Max music

·         Video/gesture-controlled performances

·         Surprises, as always

·         Anyone is welcome to bring their own projects (software or hardware, finished, in progress, bent, or broken!), or just hang out and ask makers questions and have a good time

·         For the first time, we’ll have Web-based participation via createdigitalmusic.com (videos and photos, as we recently did with a circuit bending challenge)

handmade music night in Brooklyn, Thursday Sept 27

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

“Handmade Music is an evening of original creations for music making, open to the creative minds of the New York area. It’s equal parts party, show-and-tell, performance, and science fair, open to whatever oddball software and hardware people want to bring, complete or not. Some come with projects, others just to hear and see unusual new instruments, from software to game systems to homemade electronic instruments.”

I went to the first two Handmade Music nights and it was lots of fun. Plus, free pizza and beer. Check it out next Thursday night! More information
